Presently accommodating 10 children who previously lived in one of Romania's largest orphanages, our Family House has been the key focus of the Appeal's work in recent years. Extensive renovations have taken place including a new roof, central heating, new bathrooms, and furnishings.

Our house is named Casa Nan. 'Casa' is Romanian for 'house' and Nan is in recognition of Nan Beveridge who was among the first from Scotland to take aid to Ineu in the early 1990s.

The local Child Protection authorities provide staff to care for the children, most of whom have special needs and or learning disabilities, while the Appeal takes care of the property and provides aid to the children by means of excursions, holidays, clothing, and medical treatment.

During the summer of 2007 the children enjoyed a holiday to the country while we re-decorated the entire house. We are currenlty exploring other improvements which need to be made to the property.

The Appeal raises money each year to maintain the house, make improvements and meet costs which we have committed ourself to in a contract with Child Protection.

We have also supported in partnership with a German Charity the development of a training course for carers who work in family houses like ours.
