The Children of Ineu Romanian Appeal was set up in 2000. As a small Scottish Charity the Appeal is based on the east coast of Fife in the Leven and Largo area.
The Appeal aims to bring relief and aid to Romanian orphans living in the district of Ineu in Western Romania.
Bearing in mind that orphans are orphans for life we are developing and supporting projects not only for the benefit of children but also young adults. The Appeal is also actively providing aid to those who find themselves destitute or misunderstood or unable to receive the right kind of support, resulting in their encarceration within psychiatric hosiptals where conditions are inhumane and degrading.
During the charity's short life much has been acheived. Having purchased and renovated a house in Ineu we are working in partnership with the local Child Protection authorities to provide a home for 10 orphaned children.
Increasingly our work involves nurturing partnerships in Romania to develop projects to meet needs among orphans. We do also from time to time send aid by truck where this is cost effective to do so.
The charity has a Christian ethos and is supported by local churches in Fife, particularly the Baptist Churches in Leven and Largo.
